The Philosophy of Time Travel is the debut release from Theset in 2005.

The album contains many references to the movie Donnie Darko in the lyrics and titles of songs. The name of the album was adopted in reference to a fictional text from the movie, entitled Philosophy of Time Travel. There are also references to other fiction in Theset's music; such as the song "Sunshine Dust", which relates to Episode 2 of Salad Fingers, a creepy, web-based cartoon.

A music video was created for the single "12:34" by director Colin Minihan.
